I've rebooted many times after attempting different voodoo medicines. Still, can't remove the old font vault and it's remaining fonts. File Assassin. The next step is to sacrifice my dog. Any ideas appreciated, Keith. Progress Report. And indeed at last there has been progress. I don't recall solving the issue this way the last time I had the problem.
So who knows; maybe this will work for some and not for others. I'm savouring a few moments before installing a newer version — I'm afraid to think of what can of worms that might open. This was how I spent my Christmas vacation.
Portions of it anyways. Sorry that you had so many issues Keith. I'd recommend working with our support team to help. They're great and pretty responsive when it's not during the holidays, of course. Okay so I've been able to create serialized packages for deployment in the past, not a problem.
I've even created a based font vault licensed and seats accounted for to be deployed out as needed. This works out great since we can ensure that ever user has the valid font vault library. I've been able to capture SF plug-in prefs as well.
Even if some ones font vault is acting funny, I've create a SelfService install to "reset" their vault and plug-in prefs. All of this has been tried and test without any issue. It worked great and users loved that they had the ability to reset their font vault. Apparently SF7 not needs a "cloud-like" activation.
So creating a highly customized package like before has been troublesome. Yes I can push some plist later, but it's more of a pain now. So I'm just pushing the pkg and then having the user activate the software. Then going through the setup, yadda, yadda, yadda. So now I'm trying to create a new Font Vault. I've add the fonts and create font-sets. Button everything up and create a DMG to deploy out.
Does Portfolio allow you to enter the text? Does the text then disappear upon returning to the thumbnail? Thank you for your reply. Portfolio allows me to enter text but it will then transfer the text and apply it to all the assets with the same date.
For example if I put the word 'Summer day' under an asset with the date , then it would also show up in the description to each asset with I discovered I have several instances of different font authors giving their font the exact same name. While Suitcase seems to let both fonts be included in the Font Library since they are, after all, different fonts , one of them is often ignored.
It shows up in the Extensis Panel but clicking on it to activate it does not work; it activates the other one. How is it recommended to handle this situation? Well this is a particular situation that Windows doesn't really handle well. On Windows you can only have a single font with the same PS name active at once. The best option would be to remove the one you don't need assuming you don't need the duplicate.
You can quickly find all your duplicates by clicking on the Duplicate Fonts Smart Search included in Suitcase Fusion 7. If you depend on both fonts you will probably need to activate the one you want via the Suitcase Fusion client instead of the panel to ensure you get the correct one mainly because you can't really tell which is which via the panel.
The Mac OS doesn't have this limitation, just in case anyone was curious. Thanks for the reply… But the situation is that they are two entirely different fonts. One is a script and the other a slab serif titling font. So deleting one or the other is not an option. It seems like I will have to resort to using my FontCreator software and changing the name of one of them.
If anyone else has a suggestion that doesn't involve making font designers mad at me, give a shout. Switch Editions? Channel: Extensis Forums - Latest posts. Mark channel Not-Safe-For-Work?
