Deadmau5 Calls Justin Bieber a 'Meat Puppet,' Blasts Skrillex for Being a 'Tool for Someone Else' With his penchant for trolling apparently on ice, the Canadian artist real name Joel Zimmerman should have a distraction-free period to complete work on his forthcoming album release. You can tell he lost is passion and was bitter for what 'EDM' became. He keeps talking about making a new album but it ends up being a collection of songs or just something he even admits to throwing together.
Jun 8 PM 0 0. Why not both? Jun 8 PM 0 1. Listen to it on 5 tabs of acid. SuspiciousFish Strobe is awesome but my favorite is still Not Exactly. I feel for him because i have a passionate hatred for a ton of mainstream trend prostitutes, especially people like beyonce.
In fact i probably hate beyonce more than most racists do. Beyonce is a joke and so is anybody that sweats her.
Jun 8 PM 0 3. SuspiciousFish To be honest, I kind of feel bad for the guy. I think deadmau5 is just a bitter person overall.
Skrillex managed to keep himself relevant after dubstep stopped being the hot new mainstream thing and he still makes a lot of aggressive music that can definitely be considered dubstep imo. I actually gave the Jack U album a real open-minded listen recently and even though I am a massive fan of the older Skrillex I think that his collaboration with Diplo and Bieber is actually pretty cool chillstep and there are also some other bangers on the album, not just trap.
Honestly deadmau5's kind of thinking is a bit pretentious to me. It's evidently not doing him any good. Jun 8 PM 1 0. FruitBootPro Imo Skrillex is still good. Fair enough.
But i kind of feel like if you can put together a song as sophisticated as strobe and a few other bangers, you earn the right to be a bit pretentious. Strobe almost transcends edm. To me its on the level of the fischerspooner kylie minogue remix from the austria segment of shanghai six. Jun 8 PM 1 1. Joels criticism of Skrillex and other artist is entirely warranted.
DolanReloaded Fair enough. Joel makes music, skrillex makes pop music. Joel has earned every right to be pretensious. I think that he is bitter about what edm and all of its sub genres turned into. His recent stuff hasn't really been mau5 music but that's him being who he always was. He never gave a fuck and still doesn't.
Very very few electronic artists put the time into their shit that he does. He's a perfectionist pushing his boundaries. Jun 8 PM 3 2. Not to mention the fact that most of his classic stuff has stood the test of time.
Skrillex sounds like, well, Strobe, faxing berlin, Polaris, the veldt, and the remixes from that era all still sound like they are pushing the envelope and are new and interesting today. Jun 8 PM 3 1. The words "Deadmau5" just brought back so many memories from when I was a dubstep crazed 11 year old. Jun 8 PM 3 0. Lonely Not to mention the fact that most of his classic stuff has stood the test of time.
I agree. Also your favorite deadmaus tracks are Some of my favorite. Got great taste my dude. I see what he was saying with his criticism. There is a lot of mainstream trash pop EDM and Skrillex doing a song with Beiber was like a stab in the back to him regardless if the track was good or not.
Overall, he needs to get over his shit for sure. Just be passionate and make good music and the fans will love you. He has put way to much into being a troll on instagram etc that he just kind of comes off as a washed up dick.
Even when he dropped a new album and shit on his own work. Well, put out an album you actually love then. Hopefully taking a break from social media has helped him. I have to say Im pretty down on this though. A full album of this caliber would be so dope. What did you think of man alive?
Jun 9 AM 2 0. Well shit Dolan. We agree on something. Fucking amazing song - saw him back in like and it was a dang good gig. Seems like his earlier more progressive house stuff aged better than his electro house or dubby stuff. Nobody else could build synths like that, that sound so good no matter the speaker you play them on.
Definitely was an inspiration when I dabbled with music production. Had to check the thread date like 3 times haha. SuspiciousFish I see what he was saying with his criticism.
And at least for me i dont think ive heard another techno track at that level. Some deadmaus stuff is garbage that i cant listen to but he makes alot of music its not like he can just shit out diamonds everytime.
I think some of his tracks are really simple, repetative, and lazy. Strobe streams a little louder than the LUFS average. This is most likely because it has a dynamic loudness range of 5.
This means there is a considerable difference in loudness between the quieter buildups and the louder drops. From my research, it would seem that a greater loudness range leads to louder choruses on Spotify. One very noticeable issue in Strobe is the correlation heat-map which displays phase issues. All of the red parts of the waveform show where the track might sound very different when heard in mono.
The way to fix this would be to make sure there is enough of a difference between the left and right channel to reduce overlap and cancelation. One way to achieve this is by using subtle modulation or sample delay to either the left or right channel but not both. We can determine the original loudness of the loudest part of the track by taking the short-term LUFS Assuming the original production peaked around 0dB this gives us Strobe is certainly on the more conservative side considering many club tracks are around -6LUFS short-term.
This explains the punchy dynamic range reading of 7. Deconstructing a mix like this is a great way to make real improvements in your music production. Download the fully functional trials of our plugins to help you get better sounding mixes FREE for 15 days.
